About the Certified Product Owner Course

Certified Scrum Product OwnerScrum is a simple, empirically based framework that has wide ranging implications. Key to the success of Scrum is the role of the Product Owner. The Product Owner is responsible for a project’s Return on Investment (ROI), guiding the Scrum team, and representing Customers as well as Business and Development staff. Strong Product Ownership is key to successful Scrum transformations.

Learn the essentials of working as a Scrum Alliance Certified Product Owner (CSPO) in this two-day class. Danube’s CSPO equips participants with the knowledge of Scrum principles and practices necessary to succeed in this new paradigm. Participants can expect to learn how to establish and maintain a backlog and write stories with clear acceptance criteria. We will also discuss real-world organizational challenges such as managing distributed teams, managing large or multiple projects, release planning, and metrics.

Course topics include:
  • Scrum Flow
  • Agile Product Owner Role
  • The Product Backlog (Creation and Management)
  • Writing Stories
  • Planning and Estimation
  • Releasing Planning and Metrics
  • Working with the Customer
  • Models for Scaling Agile across Multiple Teams

Food and refreshments are typically provided.

Public Course Cancellation & Refresh Policy

Full refunds are available up until 10 business days before the scheduled event date. Cancellations made within 10 business days of the event will be credited toward future events. However, no refunds will be issued. Rescheduling course attendance will be subject to a transfer fee. Substitutions will be accepted at any time prior to commencement of the course. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the course must be attended within 6 months of the participant’s original sign-up date, and no refunds or credits will be available for participants who fail to attend a course within this six-month period. No refunds or credits will be available for participants that fail to attend both days of the course.

As an added value to course participants, Danube reserves two seats at each of its public courses for individuals who have already successfully completed a course from Danube, but would like to take it a second time at no cost. This allows participants to brush up on their Scrum basics or attend a session led by a different Certified Scrum Trainer. The offer is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and must be used for the same course as the original (i.e., an individual who completed a CSM course may enroll in another CSM course, but not a Product Owner course). In addition, this offer is only available within the first six months following the original course, so please contact Danube as early as possible to reserve your seat.

Testimonials
""Great course! It was thought provoking and plain fun!... The instructor was articulate, personable and knowledgeable. Thank you!""
-Christian Molnar, Sr. Team Lead
Microsoft Corporation
"I thought that Kane did a great job of delivering this course, and I learned a great deal. In fact, I just had a meeting with our General Manager to discuss some of the changes I think we need to make to our existing "scrum-ish" process, and to get his buy-in on the likely impact on "paying" work while we pay off some of the "debt" we've accumulated. The conversation went well, and I drew heavily on Kane's presentation in the discussion... Thanks for offering this excellent class. I've already recommended it for two of our other managers"

"Michael James was an excellent instructor, great subject matter expert and focused leader."

Case Study: SingleMind Consulting, Inc
"That the client had an understanding of its business needs, but no requirements for accomplishng them was a flag that Agile methods needed to be used. Scrum helped refine requirements and, just as importantly, gave us a framework for conversation between the client and our developers."
